I was born in Brooklyn, NY and attended New York City's High School of Music and Art, where I studied fine arts and illustration. After receiving a B.A. in Liberal Arts from the Evergreen State College (Olympia, WA), I spent several years traveling the world and teaching English as a Second Language until one day, high in the Himalayas, I received the call to become a digital media guru (this is true).

I returned to the U.S. in 1996 to study Web Authoring and Computer Graphics and Animation at a Seattle-area community college. From 1998-2000 I worked for US West/Qwest Communications as a multimedia designer and developer. From 1999 to 2002 I worked as an adjunct instructor in Bellevue Community College's Media Communication & Technology program, and from 2001-2004 as a Macromedia-authorized Flash Instructor for MediaPro, Inc., Macromedia's only authorized training representative in the northwest.

In the summer of 2003 I moved to central Pennsylvania with my ex-wife Melea, so she could pursue a Ph.D. in Marketing at Penn State University. I then decided to get my master's degree from Penn State's Instructional Systems program. While in State College, I taught at the South Hills School of Business and Technology (classes included Web Design I, Web Programming II, Unix Essentials), where I also helped to design strategy and curricula for distance-education. After two years of living in State College, I bought a house in Pittsburgh(!), which is where I now live.

Currently, I work as an instructional design consultant for several clients, including Kaplan, Inc., developing instructional strategy and materials for (mostly) web-based training environments. I also continue to freelance my programming and graphic design skills, in addition to writing and editing original English language test materials for several international publishing companies.
